Friendly Driver needed for
3 to 6 months
Opportunity Description:
A friendly driver is a special volunteer that can be responsible and reliable to help our customers get to and from their destination. Friendly drivers may be asked to transport clients within Battle Creek and occasionally out of town. Friendly drivers may opt to drive their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at 48.5 cents a mile, or when available, friendly drivers can drive Summit Pointe vehicles. Transportation is a huge need of our customers. Some customers may need to be transported to appointments and/or work if their work schedule does not coincide with the bus schedule. It is very important that friendly drivers abide by our Client Confidentiality procedures, have a good driving record and can commit for a minimum of 6 months.

Friendly Visitor needed for
6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description:
A friendly visitor is a very special person, someone who gives their time generously to helping others. Summit Pointe?s goal is to help people with developmental disabilities and mental illness to participate and become active in community activities. A friendly visitor gives the opportunity for one on one contact and to enrich, as well as enhance, the quality of life for both the volunteer and their new friend. This can be accomplished by providing recreational opportunities and other positive growth experiences. A friendly visitor needs to have experience working with developmentally disabled and mentally impaired individuals. This special person will need to be committed and consistent. We are looking for individuals that can commit to 6months-1yr. Matches are made based on interests, compatibility and location.

Phone Buddy needed for

Opportunity Description:
A phone buddy is a special person who calls to brighten up another person?s day. Summit Pointe recognizes how meaningful a phone call can be and wants to offer our customers the opportunity to have a volunteer that calls just to offer some friendly conversation to our customers. This special volunteer has flexibility, but also needs to set up a routine and be consistent with calling. We are looking for volunteers who can make a minimum of a 6 month commitment.

Support Volunteer for Groups needed for
3 to 6 months
Opportunity Description:
Support staff are special volunteers who volunteer their time to help our customers get involved in different programs that Summit Pointe has available. These individuals will assist case managers in transporting customers to activities and also be a helping hand while the program is in session. Some of the programs we offer are exercise class, walking class, therapeutic groups, and craft groups. This dedicated individual will need to have a positive attitude to help encourage our customers. We would like this individual to be able to commit for a minimum of 6 months and can abide by our Client Confidentiality procedures.
